of Swim Lessons and Woodpeckers

Summer always kicks off with a rush to get into swimming lessons at one of our neighborhood's outdoor pools.  Being private, the pools are only open to the rest of us for lessons, and that usually means a long line on the day registration begins.  This year, I neglected to get in that line and when I called to see if there was any space, I secured the very last spot in all the sessions - but only for V.

That first session can be a bit cloudy and precarious some days, but she didn't seem to mind at all as long as there was a warm shower to enjoy afterwards.

Happily, we had priority registration for session two, and now both kids are enrolled.  T has the same teacher he loved last year!

The pool provides 15 minutes of free time before or after lessons; I love that my kids enjoy being together during that time!

Yesterday, after swimming, T found a nice big wooden post on the way back to the car.  He went over to it, stuck his nose on it, and told us "Woodpecker!"  Oh my!  What a guy!  Thanks to our visit to Uncle S earlier this year, he discovered Woody Woodpecker.  I don't know who chose that program for him to watch, but now it is an occasional favorite - and who knew - but T is fully aware that woodpeckers peck wood!
