Del Parson's "He is Risen" is my favorite picture depicting the Ressurected Christ. It's the perfect painting for Easter but I'm not sure if it's ok with the copywright to use it here, so I'm sending you to Del Parson's website where you can learn more about this commissioned painting. I love it for the same reasons the person commissioned it. http://delparson.com/gallery_pages/he_is_risen.html
Several days ago, as the egg-centric holiday approached, I realized I had a post about eggs coming together in my mind. Eggs, after all, are quite a significant part of our lives now. We gather them every day. And I admit, I thank our hens daily for their kind work in laying them for us. Here's how they look freshly gathered, not yet washed.
And here they are boiled up and colored by my expert daughter...
She loves coloring eggs and loves hunting them even more! Here are some of the 100 eggs from the hunt! Yes, she and her little brother found and gathered 100 eggs hidden by the famous Easter Bunny. The plastic eggs usually contain some jelly bellies, chocolate treats, peeps, money, or sometimes a toy! The foil wrapped chocolate eggs were super convenient as V needed to bring some to school the next day in order to host an egg hunt for another class. She was so excited when she found them, saying they'd be perfect to take to school.
The kids were so anxious to get hunting and they ended up having to wait not just until after church, but after daddy took them to the park!
Just as I began taking photos and thinking of an egg post leading up to Easter, what should come in the mail but eggs for me! Just love this surprise package to add to my basket of blue eggs. I had just taken this photo...
when the additional eggs arrived to produce this photo...
And what should arrive from the same delightful sender, but egg packages from the kids delivered to our door by our kind mail lady the day before Easter! You can imagine the delight that sprang from my children at the sight of packages shaped like eggs!
One fun egg from the hunt came all the way from the UK. Contents containing chocolate with hazelnuts were emptied, but the container was too irresistible to pass up (at least for J).
Every Easter must include our favorite bunny, Peter Rabbit!
